Valatie Fire Department
Annual Halloween Parade and Party
The Valatie Fire Department and
Auxiliary were the first in this area to start such a party. This was in
1971 in response to the tainted candy in other areas. The department
felt that it didn't want to take a chance on something unfortunate happening
to any of the village children. This is a joint venture of the fire department,
the residents and the businesses of the Valatie Fire District and we thank
all of them because we couldn't do it without them.
The night starts out at 6:30
pm Halloween night with a parade through the village to the firehouse.
This is where the real fun starts. The children enter the firehouse
and receive a bag of candy. All costumes are judged as they enter and prizes
are awarded. There is also cider and doughnuts served. Click on the
